4xMendelssohn er en konsertserie i 4 deler kl. 15 på søndagene 6.mars//12.juni//28.august//20.november. Serien er ny av året, og startet 6.mars med fullt hus og god pressedekning fra både Adresseavisen og konsertopptak av NRK radio sendt i programmet ”Musikk i P2” 25.mai og i NRK klassisk 31.mai. Alle sendte program vil man finne på NRK nettradio i 3 uker fra sendedato. NRK vil også gjøre opptak av de resterende konsertene i serien. Samarbeidet med NRK gir også muligheter til radiotid i alle radioselskap som er medlemmer i EBU (European Broadcasting Union).
12.juni presenterer vi Mendelssohn strykekvartett op 44 nr 3, Nordheim Strykekvartett 1956 og Puccinis kjente og kjære Crisantemi.
Dessverre må vi meddele at vår fiolinist Ola Lindseth hadde en uheldig slutt på påskeferien i år. Med to brudd i venstre hånd er han nødt til å melde avbud til konserten 12.juni. Armen er på bedringens vei, og han vil etter planen være tilbake til seriens tredje konsert 28.august. Men hell i uhell, vi har gleden av å presentere vår vikarierende fiolinist Mark Lee;
“Mark Lee har vært aktiv på den musikalske scene siden hans barndom. I flere år har han deltatt i konkurranser slik som ”Kiwanis Music Festival” og ”Canadian Music Competition”. Han har mottatt “NSRMTA Scolarship Competition grand prize” i 1999, “NSRMTA Halifax Chapter” i 2002, “Georg Tintner Scholarship” i 2008, og “String Music Atlantic Rose Bowl Competition” i 2009. I 2006 vant han “NSYO Concerto Competition” og fremførte Tsjaikovskij fiolinkonsert på turne med NSYO i november 2006. I februar 2010 fremførte han Ravels Tzigane med Symphony Nova Scotia dirigert av Bernhard Gueller som del av deres konsertserie. Etter at han flyttet til Storbritannia har Mark spilt i London Symphony Orchestra med dirigenter som Valery Gergiev og Marin Alsop i en stipendiatstilling. Mark har også samarbeidet med ”Scottish Ensemble” og ”Royal Academy Soloists” i Wigmore Hall.
Født i Halifax, Nova Scotia, begynte Mark sine fiolinstudier 5 år gammel under Myonhae Yoon, og videre studier hos en av Canadas ledende fiolinister Philippe Djokic ved Dalhousie University. Under hans studier har Mark jobbet med orkestre som NSYO, Dalhousie Symphony Orchestra, og Symphony Nova Scotia. Mark er midt i sitt Masterstudium ved Royal Academy of Music i London, UK hos lærer Maureen Smith.”

June 12. at 1500 hours Nidaros String Quartet presents 2nd concert in the series 4xMendelssohn.
4xMendelssohn is a concert series in 4 parts. The concerts are at Hornemansgården at 1500 hours on sundays 6.march//12.june//28.august//20.november. The first concert of the series was sold out and recieved a good review in Adresseavisen. NRK radio recorded successfully, and is already broadcasted twice. The broadcasted material is accessible three weeks after broadcast dates on web-radio. NRK radio will record the remaining concerts this year.
This concert we present Mendelssohn String Quartet op 44 no 3, Nordheim String Quartet 1956 and Puccini‘s well known Crisantemi.
We are sorry to announce that our violinist Ola Lindseth has broken his arm, and will not be able to play the upcoming concert. The violinist Mark Lee is going to take his place for this concert. Ola Lindseth will be back for Nidaros String Quartets 3rd concert in the series 4xMendelssohn.
As following, info about Mark Lee;
“Mark Lee has been actively involved in the musical scene since his childhood. For many years, he has competed in such competitions as the Kiwanis Music Festival and the Canadian Music Competition. He received the NSRMTA Scholarship Competition grand prize in 1999, a place is the NSRMTA Halifax Chapter in 2002, the Georg Tintner Scholarship in 2008, and the String Music Atlantic Rose Bowl Competition in 2009. In 2006, Mark won the NSYO Concerto Competition and performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the NSYO on tour in November of 2006. In February 2010, Mark performed Ravel’s Tzigane with Symphony Nova Scotia under the baton of Bernhard Gueller as part of their concert series. Since his move to the United Kingdom, Mark is playing as an apprentice with the London Symphony Orchestra performing concerts in the Barbican Hall with such conductors as Valery Gergiev and Marin Alsop. Mark has collaborated with the Scottish Ensemble and the Royal Academy Soloists in Wigmore Hall.
